📘 Course Description:
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to apiculture (beekeeping) in the Kenyan context, focusing on sustainable practices, entrepreneurship, and value addition. Designed for aspiring and practicing agripreneurs, farmers, extension agents, and youth interested in agribusiness, the course covers the biology of bees, hive management, honey production, pollination services, and marketing of bee products such as honey, beeswax, propolis, and royal jelly.
Participants will gain hands-on knowledge in selecting appropriate bee species, setting up apiaries, maintaining colony health, and applying Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) in beekeeping. The course also explores the role of apiculture in biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, and rural development.
