The Government of Kenya, with support from the World Bank through the National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP) and the Food Systems Resilience Program (FSRP), is rolling out a business acceleration model across 46 counties. This initiative is designed to equip individuals—particularly the youth—with the skills needed to become successful agricultural entrepreneurs, or agripreneurs.
These agripreneurs will act as catalysts for rural transformation, introducing innovative technologies, facilitating access to resources, and creating market linkages for smallholder farmers. Operating as independent service providers, agripreneurs will deliver agricultural inputs, extension services, and other critical solutions for a fee or alternative forms of remuneration, making the model both sustainable and scalable.
To ensure impact and continuity, the government is prioritizing youth who participated in the recent national farmer registration exercise, recognizing their familiarity with local agricultural landscapes and potential for grassroots engagement.
