📘 Course Description:
This course provides comprehensive, practical training on sorghum farming in Kenya, focusing on sustainable production, agronomic best practices, value addition, and market access. Sorghum is a climate-resilient, drought-tolerant cereal crop increasingly valued for its role in food security, animal feed, and industrial uses—including brewing and processing.
Learners will explore the full sorghum value chain, from land preparation and seed selection to harvesting, storage, and marketing. Special attention will be given to climate-smart techniques, pest and disease management, and post-harvest handling to reduce losses and ensure quality.
Designed for smallholder farmers, extension agents, agripreneurs, and agricultural students, this course blends scientific knowledge with practical insights tailored to Kenya’s agro-ecological zones and market dynamics.
By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with the skills and strategies to increase sorghum yields, improve incomes, and sustainably meet local and export market demands.
